Created by Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia
Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia is developing a new stage adaptation of Press Start! Game Over, Super Rabbit Boy! based on the best-selling early-reader series by Thomas Flintham and published by Scholastic. The production, currently in development, will premiere and begin its North American tour in fall of 2027.
Mermaid’s adaptation will transform the beloved book series into a live video game unfolding onstage, combining immersive projection, innovative puppetry, and original music to recreate the fast-paced, level-by-level energy that has made the series a favorite with young readers. Audiences will follow Super Rabbit Boy through the highs and lows of gameplay — including the game-overs and do-overs that make video games, and this story, so relatable to children.
